A Mercedes-Maybach A-Class Anyone?

Mercedes is bringing an A-Class sedan to the market and a hatchback variant is set to be released in Canada, but what of a model released under the Maybach sub-brand. Of course there isn’t one in the works, at least not as far as we’re aware, though there is are renderings of what a Mercedes-Maybach A-Class could look like.

The 2018 Mercedes-Maybach exudes luxury both inside and out with a distinctively sculpted body and a plethora of high end features. There’s no mistaking it for anything else when you get a glimpse of its triple-band LED Daytime Running Lamps or LED tail lamps with a sparkle effect unique to this model. Built off of the Mercedes S-Class, this model has both performance and elegance in spades.

Which brings us to these latest renderings of a Maybach A-Class from Aksyonov Nikita. The high end vehicle features a new front and rear bumper, modified side skirts, diffuser, heavily tinted windows and Maybach badges. There’s certainly some resemblance to latest Maybach model, but it seems to take after the Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet Concept more, mainly in the grille area.

Shame as the Maybach S560 is a work of art, though CarScoops highly doubt Mercedes will ever water down the Maybach badge with a hatchback variant.

Alpina was at one point interested in modifying the 3-Series and in a way it can make sense for Maybach to get into entry-level products. If it means a $3000-5000 price increase I think it can sell. It might might not be as much of a maybach as what an S-Class would be.

I don't think Mercedes has much interesting in offering a Maybach hatchback, and thats the only model we'll be getting in Canada. As the A-Class is supposed to be offering an entry level product, I'm not sure if it makes sense to add a trim level, which substantially increases its price point.
