Its official, Mercedes A-Class Sedan starts at $33,495

For our American based members, 2019 A-Class Sedan starting prices are out for both launch models; A 220 Sedan From $33,495 and the A 220 4MATIC Sedan from $35,495 ($995 delivery included in both prices). It's all we're getting for now as an inactive 'Build' button can be spotted on what will be the A-Class configurator page, check it out for yourself here. While we wait, the Canadian market A-Class Hatchback configurator should provide insight on what Sedan will include.

Anyone else think its a bit risky to price so close to that of the CLA? With them already looking fairly similar are they not just going to compete with one another now? Upping their sedan range when interest in the segment is at an all time low seems...weird.

This was done intentionally to try and upsell newcomers to the GLA or C-Class. You're already going to be looking at more than $40k with moderate equipment. At least there is a chance it could be better performance wise than the CLA.

One is a coupe the other is a traditional sedan.

They are both 4 doors, regardless of the roofline. I doubt that the intended audience is all that much different either. Rear seats in the CLA have been noted to be extremely poor, so if you plan on needing them that's worth considering.

It won't be any different from the reasons that some people buy the CLS over E-Class or A7 over A6

Coupe doesn't seem to mean anything anymore, especially in regards to newer crossovers. Its just nomenclature that gives the allure of something sporty.

I don't know how it was used in the past but we had vehicles decades ago with similar theme's. this time around it seems to be part of a larger marketing strategy. people associate 'coupe' to a sporty product and well, just about every 'coupe' sedan and suv are the sportiest from that brand.
